I love a good challenge – we grow and improve and strengthen ourselves when we’re challenged.  I especially love to participate in a challenge with other like-minded and goal focused friends.  So, in the spirit of entering a new year with a new plan to grow, I invite you to join me in the 2022 challenge.

What is the 2022 challenge?  I’m so glad you asked.  The 2022 challenge consists of spending 20 minutes each day in some form of self-improvement activity and then completing 22 burpees.  The 20-minute self-improvement activity can be one of, or a combination of, several things.  And a different physical exercise can be substituted for the burpees.  I chose burpees for myself because they are one of the most effective full body exercises and they are difficult enough to really push me.  I don’t like burpees – in fact I detest them – so this is an ideal exercise for me to add to my daily routine because I truly want to grow from this daily practice.  I want to prove to myself that I can commit to, and follow through with, something difficult and unpleasant.  This will result in a sense of pride in myself, increased self-confidence, and shift my mindset into first gear when facing future challenges.

Now let’s dig in to the 20-minute self-improvement activity.  I suggest choosing from options such as: affirmations; meditation; a gratitude practice; listing goals or daily intentions.  You can choose to repeat the same activity/activities each day or select a different set depending on the needs that arise from day to day.  For example, if you find yourself struggling with a negative mindset for a period then affirmations and a gratitude journal may be most helpful.  If you are working towards a certain goal or achievement, then you may benefit from a daily practice of listing and visualizing your goals.  The beauty of this challenge is its flexibility and the opportunity to tailor it to life’s inevitable curveballs.
